About
Plant Source International
The History of PSI…
In 1997, with the encouragement and
support of several growers, Troy Lucht created Plant Source
International and partnered with Floraplant in Mexico to
produce and ship spring vegetative material to North American
growers.
PSI quickly developed a reputation
for honoring commitments, shipping quality cuttings and
providing exceptional customer service.
Production continued at Floraplant
expanding the product line, increasing the customer base
and adjusting all the procedures to improve the overall
customer satisfaction from PSI
In 2002, PSI partnered with Oglevee
to market PSI under the Plant Selection as the “unbranded
brand”. The two companies began a relationship with
Plant Haven for new genetics. After the shipping season,
Troy felt it was time to move on from Floraplant. PSI Mexico
was created with partner Mauricio Paniagua where they leased
an office, some greenhouses and built their own greenhouses
on leased land.
During this first year of production
at PSI Mexico, the marketing of PSI took a new direction
with the addition of a marketing specialist, Alan Zaeske,
in 2003. PSI committed to produce Suntory product for Jackson
and Perkins for the North American market. Construction
of greenhouses was ongoing.
PSI Mexico spread their wings with
the purchase of land in Tlatizipan in 2004 and began to
construct the first production greenhouse at the newly designated
Section T.
In 2005, the order processing was greatly
improved with the addition of an administrator, Linda Strandlund,
to the North American office staff. We continued construction
at Section T and received certification from USDA to ship
geraniums to the US.
Perhaps the most appreciated improvement
for our customers was the new computer program for sales
and on-line availability that was put into place in 2006.
Order processing was greatly improved allowing for orders
to be processed in a more timely fashion. Construction continued
at Section T with another greenhouse and an office and cooler.
PSI is continuing to expand its
product line and its facilities to meet the needs and expectations
of our customers.
